If you look around this time of year you might notice the striking red colour of the male red-headed weaver. He will probably be remarkably busy weaving an intricate nest. You will often find them hanging off the branches of trees like a Christmas decoration or on the edges of roofs or buildings. Since the ultimate selection of a mate is usually up to the female, the male weaver bird will go to extreme lengths to produce the perfect home, delicately and expertly woven to perfection.
These they show off to passing females, flagging them down with vigorous displays and their brightly coloured costumes. Females will inspect the nests and finding them to their satisfaction will begin to line the interiors as an indication of their approval.
At Likweti Bushveld Farm Estate, we’ve taken a leaf out of their book (or shall we say nest) and produced two brand-new, perfect Lowveld homes. Situated at Likweti Plains, these two homes were expertly constructed by Mackay Project Management who pride themselves on quality workmanship. And because we know that just like the weavers, the lady generally has the last say, we invite you and your loved ones to come and visit our show houses.
