All roads led to the Lowveld for this retired couple
Louis, a civil engineer, worked on roads for more than 40 years before the road eventually lead him and his wife, Pat to Likweti Bushveld Farm Estate close to White River, Mpumalanga. Pat is a former teacher who has always loved gardening and art and took up painting again after retirement.

Louis and Pat always knew that, as soon as the opportunity came to retire, they would be looking at options outside Pretoria where they resided most of their lives.
As one would come to expect from an Engineer and a Teacher, they thoroughly investigated all the pros and cons of each city and residential development including proximity to an airport, doctors, and hospitals, local weather, and pricing. The couple considered various cities including George, Wilderness and Kloof in Kwazulu-Natal, but the coastal winds (of change) were blowing them towards the Lowveld. For campers who love the Kruger National Park, it seemed like a perfect idea to trade in the freezing highveld winters for the more moderate Lowveld winters.
Dalene Minnaar from White River Property Sales, one of the development’s Estate Agents , has known Louis and Pat for quite some time and she knew that Likweti Bushveld Farm Estate would be the ideal option for this young at heart couple who loves nature. The couple recognized the unique offering of the Estate and bought a one hectare stand at Likweti Hills, the first phase of development at Likweti Estate. They used their preferred architect who, together with the couple, put a lot of thought and planning into the design to ensure every room benefit s from the magnificent, unobstructed views. Bruce Mackay from Mackay Project Management is a local builder who was tasked with the building of the Wessels residence. Bruce has built most of the houses on the Estate and comes highly recommended by the developers.

Having been residents at Likweti Estate for 6 years now, Louis and Pat are loving every moment of their retirement. Some of the things they specifically appreciate about the Estate includes the general management of the Estate, the environment and wildlife, the maintenance of the Estate’s infrastructure, the efforts to create a safe and secure Estate, and the reasonable monthly levies.
Having access to excellent doctors, dentists, and retail options in White River makes the Estate’s location very convenient. The fact that Woolworths Food at the White River Crossing Centre deliver to the Estate is just an added luxury.
The couple enjoys spending time outside and visits to the bird hide at one of the dams are rewarded every so often with sightings of a fish eagle. Pat feels safe enough to explore the Estate on her own and when she is not in her studio painting, she can be found working in their beautiful Lowveld garden which includes a small vegetable garden. Louis is an avid golfer who is as comfortable on the green as he is in his workshop where he, and his wife love to keep him busy with carpentry. Between hobbies, friends, and camping this couple exemplifies what a balanced lifestyle looks like and what better place to do that than in the heart of the Lowveld at a highly sought after wildlife residential estate.
